Four ways to engage

Pillar 1:

Leadership Access

Expand the pool of qualified candidates considered for senior leadership roles. Broaden how you identify and evaluate leadership potential so the best candidate, not just the most visible one, gets the opportunity.

Pillar 2:

Fair Hiring Practices

Maintain consistent, equitable hiring and compensation practices. Audit your systems. Close gaps. Create the conditions where advancement is based on performance.

Pillar 3:

Mentorship & Sponsorship

Invest in programs that develop talent and strengthen the leadership pipeline. Build your own programming or send employees through Sego programs.

Pillar 4:

Retention & Workplace Support

Implement policies that support employees and reduce avoidable attrition. Flexibility, parental leave, and retention policies aren’t special perks anymore. Now, they’re how you hold on to talent.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do we get started with Sego Certified?

First step is an introductory call with Sego Leadership. We’ll help you choose a pillar and map out what your company can do next.

Can we choose more than one pillar?

Absolutely. Most organizations start with one pillar where they have the clearest opportunity, then expand from there. Sego Certified is designed to grow with you.

How long does certification take?

The pace is up to you. As long as you can show measurable progress, you’ll certify in your chosen pillar. That may take you three months or three years. Either way, certification is earned by demonstrating measurable outcomes, not by meeting an arbitrary deadline.

What resources does Sego provide to help us implement our chosen pillar?

We can connect you with companies who have certified in the same pillar so you can learn what worked for them. We also have several best-practice resources to share and, of course, our portfolio of Sego Leadership programs to help you build a solid leadership pipeline.

How do we measure progress toward certification?

Measurement varies by pillar and company size. We’ll help you set milestones that are realistic and meaningful for where your organization is right now.

Does participating in Sego Certified create any legal obligations?

Not at all. It’s a voluntary commitment that signals your organization’s values to current and future employees, and to the broader community. Sego Certified is focused on advancing women, but the systems and cultures it builds benefit everyone.

How does Sego Certified differ from a DEI compliance program?

Sego Certified isn’t a compliance program; it’s a business strategy. We don’t ask organizations to report demographic data, meet hiring quotas, or adopt mandatory training. Instead, we help you build the systems, policies, and pipelines that ensure your best talent rises regardless of how visible they’ve been. The focus is on organizational performance, not classification. Organizations choose their pillar based on where they have the most opportunity to improve — and certification is earned by demonstrating measurable business outcomes, not by checking boxes.

Can we use Sego Certified participation as evidence of good-faith efforts?

Yes, and many of our partners do. Participating in Sego Certified demonstrates that your organization has made a structured, measurable commitment to advancing women in the workplace. The Pledge, Commit, and Certify framework creates a documented record of intentional action, which can be a meaningful part of how your organization demonstrates its values to employees, investors, and the public. We recommend consulting your legal team on how best to communicate your participation in any formal context.

What data do we need to collect, and who has access to it?

The data you collect depends entirely on the pillar you choose. Sego does not require access to your internal data. What you collect stays within your organization, and we provide frameworks to help you measure progress. Occasionally, we may invite partners to share their experience through a case study or connect with other organizations working in the same pillar. This is entirely optional and always done with your permission. We believe the companies doing this work have stories worth telling, and that sharing them makes the whole community stronger.

Does the Pledge constitute a legally binding commitment?

No. The Pledge is a public declaration of intent — a signal to your employees, peers, and community that your organization is serious about this work. It is not a contract, does not create legal obligations, and does not bind your organization to specific outcomes. The commitment is to the work, not to Sego.
