Dr. Sydnee Dickson has been serving the children of Utah as a proud educator for the past 44 years. Currently she serves as the Clinical Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy at the University of Utah and was also named the inaugural Special Assistant to the Dean for Strategic Initiatives. Prior to the University of Utah, she worked for the Utah State Office of Education beginning in 2007 and was named State Superintendent of Public Instruction in 2016. Sydnee began her career in Utah public schools in many roles including teaching, school counseling, and school and district administration.

Dr. Dickson led many initiatives in Utah Public Education including statewide Dual Language Immersion Expansion, Digital Teaching and Learning keeping students connected through the pandemic, Portrait of a Graduate, improved teacher and leadership preparation and evaluation standards, and many more. She currently serves on national boards including the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, West Ed, Management Training Corp., and is a visiting Former Chief Fellow with Alliance for Learning Innovation. She also serves on many state committees connected to improved outcomes and opportunities for students, families, and communities.
